FAQ

  • What is an Aussiedoodle?
Aussiedoodles are a mixed breed consisting of Australian Shepherd and Poodle, in our case the Standard Poodle. They are intelligent, incredibly playful, and they crave human companionship, making them wonderful family dogs. They are considered companion dogs and should always live inside with their humans. Due to their high intelligence, they enjoy having a job, whether that be fetching a ball, playing with a child, solving a puzzle, or holding a more official task. Aussiedoodles can be well-suited as therapy dogs, while others nicely fill the role of herding other animals on a working farm. Due to this herding instinct, they may nip and herd people. With early training, this is not a problem. At Quiver Full Doodles, we understand that all puppies need training regardless of the breed, and we are available for our families to help with any concerns that might arise. Our goal is to have happy families with their lifelong best friend. These active dogs, often referred to as an “Einstein” breed for their smarts, do well in homes that can provide plenty of attention and exercise, The Aussiedoodle makes an excellent family dog, as long as smaller children know how to safely play with the pup. They are also incredible therapy dogs, given how quickly they bond to a specific human or two. Aussiedoodles are smart dogs and require mental stimulation. If they become bored, they may act out in destructive ways. Their coats can be a variety of colors typically seen in Australian Shepherds, like blue merle, red merle, black and red tri, black and tan (AKA "phantom"), parti, sable, or even a solid color in rare cases. Some Aussiedoodles have wavier coats, while others have tighter curls like their Poodle parents. Aussiedoodles with shorter hair may be better for allergy sufferers, but it is not a guarantee. Most weigh in at 25 to 70 pounds and range in height from 10 to 15 inches at the shoulder. That said, many can be smaller or larger. Many describe an Aussiedoodle as goofy and loving
  • Do you dock tails and cut off dewclaws?
Some people choose to dock their dog's tail and dewclaws. After researching we have chosen to leave our puppies natural. The tail is an extension of a dog's backbone and is used to stabilize them. It's also a significant source of communication of their emotions, from joy to excitement and even fear. Tail docking is purely cosmetic. The dewclaw also stabilizes dogs while they run and play and helps them grab toys and objects. It also helps prevent carpal tunnel. For these reasons we will NOT be docking tails and removing dewclaws.
  • What generation do we have?
At this time we have F1 Aussiedoodles. We will have F1B Aussiedoodles puppies joining our family Spring 2023. F1B..... F1 Aussiedoodle + Standard Poodle= F1B Aussiedoodles F2B may be in the future.
  • Do your dogs shed?
We cannot guarantee any dog to be non-shedding. However, our puppies are considered low to non-shedding. (unless otherwise noted on puppy page) F1B (second generation) puppies will shed less than F1 (first generation) puppies. As well as F2B (third generation) will shed even less than the other two generations. If you seek a certain coat type, let us know when contacting us for a certain puppy.
